TALENT KNOWS NO LIMITS Building a Workforce Without Barriers

June 19 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Join us for an inspiring event dedicated to building inclusive employment pathways, helping employers unlock untapped potential.

Hosted by Northern Regional College, in partnership with Triangle Progression to Employment Service and Causeway Chamber, this event will spotlight a pilot initiative funded by the Apprenticeship Inclusion Challenge Fund.

Our host for the morning will be Jude Morrow who is an autistic best-selling author, entrepreneur, and keynote speaker from Derry. He is the founder of Neurodiversity Training International, where he leads initiatives to promote neurodiversity in educational and corporate settings. As a motivational speaker, he focuses on integrating the neurodivergent community into various aspects of life and work, debunking myths and confronting stereotypes.
We will also be joined by:
  • Edyth Dunlop from The Northern Ireland Union of Supported Employment is an umbrella organisation representing organisations supporting people with disabilities into employment. NIUSE can act as link between contractors and a range of disability employment organisations across Northern Ireland.
  • Una Wilson from The Equality Commission will share Positive Action – Recruiting people with disbilities.
  • Hear from local employers and individuals with disabilities about the positive impact of inclusive hiring.

As an inclusive employer, policymaker, or educator, learn how you can tap into the ‘hidden workforce’ and play a vital role in shaping pre-apprenticeship programmes that support individuals with disabilities — and the businesses that employ them. “This workshop will explore the common concerns and perceived barriers around employing people with disabilities and focus on how we can collaboratively design a pre-apprenticeship programme that supports both employers and participants.”

Project Summary – Apprenticeship Inclusion Challenge Fund

Northern Regional College, in collaboration with Triangle Progression to Employment Service and Causeway Chamber, has been successful under the Apprenticeship Inclusion Challenge Fund to improve access and participation in apprenticeships for individuals with disabilities in Northern Ireland. This initiative aims to address systemic and societal barriers—including low employer awareness, lack of flexible pathways, and limited support structures—that hinder disabled individuals from engaging in apprenticeship opportunities.
