BCM Security are giving back this Christmas to help support local families with cancer
On Saturday 1st December local security company BCM Security took on the mammoth task of cycling 500 miles during their Christmas Spinathon to raise funds for local families affected by cancer.
Not only did they reach their 500 miles target but exceed it by reaching over 600 miles on a cold and wet Saturday in Coleraine, certainly a tough challenge.
BCM Security’s Operations Director Zane explains:
“As a local company we decided that this year we would pick one charity partner and raise £5,000 for them, we are delighted to have raised £3482.50 from this event taking our fundraising total to £5139.66
I’d like to thank everyone in Coleraine who donated on the day and for being so generous and supportive during a tough challenge. A special word of thanks to everyone who helped us cycle those 600 miles and those who collected money all day; Paul Cole, Ryan George, George Boyd, Gavin Beatty, Jonny Anderson, Shannon Davies, Elle Mae Freeman, Jordan Trailer, Jonathon Lynch and Conor Dooey. A special word of thanks to the Causeway Chamber Council for their continued support especially Annette Deighan for coming along and to Cancer Fund for Children’s Chief Executive Gillian Creevy.”
Operations Manager and Championship Cyclist Kyle Cole added:
“It was a long, tough and exhausting day to cycle on static Watt bikes all day but an easy day in comparison to what a local family has to go through when they receive a cancer diagnosis.
We’d like to thank our main sponsor TST Transport for sponsoring this event and RiverRidge Recycling, Limavady Kitchen Company, Bee Clean Outdoor Cleaning Solutions, R.W.D. Solid Fuel Supplies, RS5* Fire and Security, The Anchor Bar, Limavady Roller Doors, Emerge Event Solutions, Bell Architects, NW Security Ltd., Starrett 4x4 Car Sales, WHN Tyres, Web Bureau, Sandy Arthur Training Services, Jayney Nails and William McKeag of Lisbarnet Turkeys for sponsoring us. A special word of thanks to Aaron Ballantyne and Neil Beddow from Northern Regional College for supporting the event with the use of their Watt bikes and helping us pedal the 500 miles.”
Cancer Fund for Children’s Regional Fundraiser, Suzanne O'Loughlin added:
“As we move closer to Christmas Day throughout the month of December as many as 12 families will have heard the devastating news that their child has cancer. There will also be many families where a parent will be told they have cancer. A cancer diagnosis can have a devastating impact on the whole family and beyond medical care there is a family life that needs to be rebuilt. Right now, Cancer Fund for Children are supporting forty families in the Causeway Coast and Glens area, of these fourteen live in the Coleraine area.
Cancer Fund for Children provides practical, financial and emotional support as well as therapeutic short breaks to Daisy Lodge in Newcastle Co. Down or a self-catering break at our Coleraine Cottages. We simply wouldn’t be able to provide this support without the support of the local community and companies.
I am delighted to be working in partnership with BCM Security and their dedication in fundraising to supporting local families that they will never even meet is outstanding.
I’d like to thank everyone who supported BCM Security with their event from the corporate sponsors, Northern Regional College and the Army Reserves for the use of their Watt bikes, Darran from Emerge Event Solutions who provided great entertainment on the day to those who came along and volunteered on the day with cycling or collecting money. Thank you all for taking the time to help support local families affected by cancer.”
