Get Involved with Independents Day!
Independents Day will be taking place during Monday 4th July. It is a day to champion, celebrate and support local Independent businesses. Organised by the retail lobby group NIIRTA, supported by Bank of Ireland, the campaign is designed to celebrate the contribution made by independent traders to local communities and to the local economy.
Independents Day is all about highlighting and celebrating the huge contribution that local independent businesses make, not just to the economy, but to our community and town centres. We need to constantly remind ourselves that these businesses on our doorsteps are providing local employment for local people so it is vital that we support these independents in sustaining local jobs. It is these very businesses that make the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough the vibrant place it is today, so Lets ‘Buy Local’.
Bank of Ireland, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Coleraine Town Team, Causeway Chamber of Commerce and the Savvy Retailer are calling on local businesses and consumers to make a special effort on 4th July and throughout the month of July to support these invaluable local businesses. We would also encourage consumers to support their local independent pubs, restaurants, cafes and other small businesses."
President of Causeway Chamber, Ian Donaghey MBE, commented “We want to see shoppers throughout the Causeway Coast & Glens make a point to shop independently on the fourth of July and we believe they will be surprised at the high level of choice, quality and customer service that is available.”
Julienne Elliott, Economic Development Officer, said “Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council recognise the importance of independent business to the economic success of our area.Shop Local is the message and Council support this initiative to raise awareness of the variety of independent businesses that operate across the Borough. Each town within the borough has something different to offer so I would encourage residents and visitors to Shop Local this July”
Posters and information packs are available for local businesses from their Tourist Information Office.
