Local Businesses meet Economy Minister
East Londonderry MP Gregory Campbell hosted a conference call facilitated by Causeway Chamber with the Economy Minister Diane Dodds for businesses in the Causeway Coast area.
Minister Dodds has been engaging with businesses as Northern Ireland prepares for a gradual reopening. Mr. Campbell said,
“It was excellent news that the Minister chose the Causeway Coast area for the first in her series of such business sector meetings. I had been pressing upon her the needs particularly of the hospitality sector. There were a range of businesses involved in the meeting, from small to firms with hundreds of employees and included retail, construction and the hospitality sectors.
Mrs Diane Dodds,
“2020 will be a year that business across Northern Ireland will never forget but this is felt no more so than in the hospitality sector. The Causeway Coast is our premier tourism offering and at this time of year the area would normally be buzzing with the North-West 200, gearing up for the Super Cup as well as welcoming golf visitors and local people holidaying.
It was important to hear at first hand the issues on the ground. We have been working to mitigate the impact for businesses like those in the Causeway Coast. Whether it has been a series of grants, a rates holiday or support for restarting the economy, it is vital that the Northern Ireland Executive stands with our local employers and helps them get through this crisis.”
