Ulster University Academic promotions celebrated

Vice-Chancellor Professor Paddy Nixon congratulates all of those who have achieved academic promotions this year.
On behalf of the whole Ulster University community, Vice-Chancellor Professor Paddy Nixon has congratulated all of those who have achieved academic promotions this year.
As well as representing tremendous personal achievements for our colleagues that we can all celebrate and be proud of, academic promotions also underline our commitment to academic excellence at Ulster University.
An important and rewarding milestone for colleagues, professorial leadership is linked to a distinguished record of scholarly and professional achievement, where individuals are recognised at an international level as leading authorities in their field. Three colleagues have achieved a Personal Professorship this year: Dr Kathryn Burnett, Dr Karise Hutchinson and Dr Ye Huang.
Promotions to readership and senior lectureship have also been awarded across the University’s faculties, further strengthening our focus on the outstanding research and teaching which are central to our strategic vision.
At Ulster University, we work to create a culture that enables and supports our academic staff to develop their careers, optimise their potential and achieve their ambitions. The Department of People & Culture has recently held several workshops to seek views on the current scheme, and to review and develop a new scheme. The new scheme will continue to reward and recognise academic excellence, providing clear career paths for academic staff.
In the 2018 promotions round, the following staff have been promoted:
